This body of work consists of portraits taken all over the globe and rearranged to form new narratives. When viewed from a distance the panoramas resemble disjointed cityscapes, but looking more closely reveals each square to be an individual portrait meticulously arranged to create the illusion of continuity. The foreground blurs recall human figures just enough to suggest peering through a crowd, without becoming the main focus of the image. The compilations required hours of experimentation to create a fluid sense of transition. The effect is uncanny as the eye travels seamlessly from Tokyo to San Francisco, to Amsterdam, and beyond. Line, shape, and color aid in connecting backgrounds and limbs, with the eye working to fill the gaps in between.
