Aeolian Harp

Wood, filament, plexiglass, hardware

4ft x 1ft x 8ft

2017

I built this wind harp specifically for the main tunnel at Sutro Baths, a historical landmark in San Francisco. I grew up in the Bay Area visiting these ruins, and this tunnel in particular is hauntingly beautiful with the sound of crashing waves just below. Open to the ocean at either end, the wind funnels through the space, animating the strings of the harp to create an ethereal sound, beckoning visitors like the Sirens of Greek mythology.
